I went to visit the Royal Academy Summer Show a few weeks ago, it’s the first time I have actually got round to visiting, and gosh it’s worth the effort! There is such a vast collection of artworks from well known, not so well known and emerging makers all sitting together in a such a spectacularly grand setting! The curation of the show must be such an enormous task, but how the pieces fit together was inspiring – almost a piece of artwork in itself!

My favourite piece was a white painting called ‘From Vauxhall Bridge’ by Andy Finlay. It looked like just a white canvas from some angles but when moving around the room, the depth and image appeared. Such a beautiful piece – I kept going back to it to have another look – there was always another detail to notice.

As you know drawing is a big love of mine and looking at how others express themselves using a line and a pen is something I always like looking at. Paul Koralek and Jennifer Summers are two that I particularly liked.

Below are some images from the show – very quick snaps I’m afraid. I’ll be sure to try and apply myself next year! It would be great to be in such a varied show.
